Sometime in the middle of last week someone stole our baby and gave us a new one. On Thursday morning the baby that awoke in his basket suddenly cried much less, plays much more, and decided to sleep through the night.
For the last two nights Marcus has gone down at 9.00pm and woken up at 7.00am (give or take 5 minutes each side). When he wakes up he doesn't cry - he looks around the room for 15 minutes quite contentedly. In the evening he's happy (sometimes ecstatic) to lie under his play gym for an hour playing with things with his mum and dad playing with him. It's been a transformation.
Every parent has this sort of thing but it's great when it happens. I was telling this to a friend who lives around the corner this morning - she was telling me how her 16 month old daughter has now stopped sleeping through the night, so we'll enjoy it while we can!!!
A blog site for Shelley and Karl to update friends and family on them and the boys.

Marcus has a bath
Marcus loves having a bath at the end of the day. It's the one thing that is guaranteed to calm him down.
Marcus wears his first cardie and jeans
Slightly out of focus, but I really like this photo - Marcus wearing his first cardigan. Knitted by his great-aunty Joyce (and jeans from Michelle). His mum is starting to have too much influence on his fashion...I need to get him some running shorts.
Worn out
After a couple of nights of poor sleep, I got home to a pretty worn out mother and son today. Hopefully everyone can start to catch up on sleep soon.
Mum and Marcus
Marcus loves his mum! When I was lining the camera up for the family portrait mum and son looked so cute together!
Family portrait, 31 March 05
Our most recent family portrait, from a couple of weeks ago. There's a bit of red-eye, but everyone was happy that day!

Marcus discovers a new concept.
This week Marcus has discovered the joys of SLEEP. The last two nights have seen him sleep 7 hours in one go, and he's now sleeping during the day. He's less tired so less grizzly.
He's also developing well - weighed this week by the Plunket nurse at 5.77kgs. Mum says that he's starting to smile at her when she goes in to get him first thing in the morning.
It's all lovely!

Where does the time go?
Marcus turned seven weeks old yesterday. All is going really well, except the sleeping. He's growing, feeding and doing all the bodily functions. He just doesn't like to go to sleep, and doesn't stay asleep for long. We can usually get him to sleep about 9pm, but he won't sleep during the day. It's a bit frustrating as he's clearly a tired little fella, and the more tired he gets, the harder it becomes to get him to sleep.
He went to Midnight Espresso for the first time in the weekend with his dad.
