Recently we were sent some presents for Marcus in a box. The box has proved to be very popular, given it's boy-like size!
A blog site for Shelley and Karl to update friends and family on them and the boys.

Yum yum lunch!
Marcus is a very good eater. His favourite foods are: apple; mandarins; marmite and cheese sandwiches; MealMate biscuits; baby carrots; Weet Bix for breakfast; and Dad's roti breads. He's gone off raisins which used to be a favourite.
Christmas day 2006
Last week Marcus had his second Christmas. He got lots of great presents and was spoilt as I'm sure all two-year olds are. The lovely presents haven't quite overtaken the clothes pegs and the yogurt container lids as his favourites yet, but they're getting close!
Marcus' first haircut
Last week Marcus had his first haircut. It was a pretty momentous day and we had to take several weeks to prepare ourselves for it. Shelley had already trimmed his fringe previously but this was to really cut it at the back. Unfortunately, his powers to make mischief haven't diminished at all!

Sharing a moment
Well, it's been too long since we've put anything on the blog. We'll put some photos and talk on over the next few days.
Here's a shot from the Guy Fawkes display in Wellington last month. It looks like Marcus is interested. He was. For about 3 minutes. Then he wanted to play with all the stones next to Te Papa for the next 20 minutes!

Marcus helps make breakfast
When we make breakfast now Marcus likes to stand at the bench and see what I'm doing!
Marcus in the kitchen
One of Marcus' favourite places to play in the kitchen while we prepare meals is on the floor with the plastic containers in the bottom drawer. But then he discovered he could fit in the drawer...and then stand on it to reach into the sink - erp!

Happy 18th (month) birthday Marcus!
Today was another momentous day - Marcus has now been with us for 18 months. He is a lovely little boy, who is on the verge of talking. We are starting to sense a lot of frustration from him at not being able to communicate with us, but he finds his ways.
He runs around everywhere and is growing at a rate of knots. He's lovely and makes me smile (except at dinnertimes, when he's often tired and not at his best!).
Here you can see one drink isn't enough for him - milk in one hand (the blue bottle) and water in the other hand to wash it down!

Simple toys are the best
Marcus has several toys he plays with all the time at the moment. They are a number of plastic containers (empty yogurt and jam containers are particular favourites), stacking cups from the $2 Shop, and a rubber band!
Here he's trying out the latest in waterproof hats.

Getting bigger by the day
Marcus had his 15 month check-up at Plunket this week. He's now 12.5kg, and 82 cm tall. He's got 15 out of 20 teeth, and his molars are giving him grief every day. He sleeps from 7.30pm to 7.00am and has a two hour nap during the day. He says a lot - mostly variations on mum and dad. But definite sounds are emerging for dog, cat, bus and truck. He knows how to get us to do what he wants, like knocking on the table, or knocking on the floor. He loves running and walking around.
In short, Marcus is not a baby any more. He's a little toddler, with his own personality (which is playful and shy).

Good-night Marcus
Marcus' corner
A little man
Marucs is definitely not a baby any more. He has his own personality and is becoming a little man every day.
Afternoon tea time
Afternoon tea time can sometimes get messy. And Marcus is starting to get fussy. Here, he's happy to have banana cake, but not so keen on the banana!
Marcus' first bubble bath
The other night Marcus had his first bubble bath. I wasn't sure how he'd react to something so different, but as you can see he loved it!

The great outdoors
In the laundry
I haven't put any photos up for a while so will put several up over the next day. This shows marcus with his favourite toys - his stacking cups. He loves stacking them in the proper order from biggest to smallest!

Marcus' toys and a big step.

Marcus has worked out how to empty out his toy container in the lounge. We start the day all neat and tidy, but by 7.05am it's gone a bit awry. However, it doesn't matter how many toys you have, sometimes it's the simple things that make you happy - his favourite toys at the moment are our coffee cup coasters! He especially likes to move them from one shelf to the bookcase, to his high chair, to the TV shelf, back to the bookcase.

A big developmental step today involved Marcus climbing our whole staircase. There are probably 16 steps on the staircase. Up to today, the most he'd done was four. However, today he just raced up them (I struggled to keep up, making sure I'd catch him if he stopped). There's something new and amazing every day!

Marcus and grandad have a cuddle
While we were in New Plymouth Marcus and his grandad got on like a house on fire. There were lots of cuddles all round. Some of the cutest moments of the trip were when Terry was sitting in his Lazyboy chair with Marcus on his lap and Marcus looking up adoringly!
